As surprising as that is, the real shock hits when the mob boss, Delveccio, assigns the murder contract to Maggie.
Depending on the coaching of her menagerie of pets, Maggie has to figure out her goal and shoot for it…maybe literally.

Prologue
“You just know it’s going to be a bad day when it’s your turn to bring the orange slices.”
I felt the eyes of everyone on me as I lugged a cooler of oranges, drinks and snacks. I felt judged and had to fight the urge to just turn around and leave.
No doubt they believed I’d brought the “wrong” things. Had I gotten the wrong color Gatorade? Had I remembered both salty and sweet snacks?
I’d grown up with the kids at school knowing my mom was a nutjob and my dad a criminal. I’d endured whispers, insults and shunnings, but nothing the cruel kids had done held a candle to the soccer moms (and dads).
My face burned, my chest was tight, and each plodding step I took was torture.
The knowledge that the only way I could save myself weighed heavily on me.
I had to kill one of them.
