New release! And how I’m similar to Maggie.

November 1, 2021 By JB Lynn Leave a Comment

The Hitwoman Pays a Debt is out!

The next time you read about Maggie doing something klutzy, remember this story and now that I find inspiration for her in my real life:

Yesterday I was working on the NEXT Hitwoman book. My laptop started to slip off my lap. I grabbed for it and managed to hit it with enough force and at just the right angle to have it go flying up.

I managed to not only give myself a bump on the head over my eyebrow, but a nice half-inch long cut over my lip that bled like crazy.

I have mad Maggie-like skills, lol.

If you’re feeling sorry for me and have read The Hitwoman Pays a Debt, please leave a review. It will help to soothe my self-respect which has been bruised by my klutziness, lol.

If you haven’t gotten your copy yet, please do!

Maggie Lee is a woman who pays her debts and now she’s running herself ragged.

When the mysterious Ms. Whitehat asks her to work at a dentist’s office to gain access to a safe, Maggie can’t say no.

She probably should have turned down her murder mentor, Patrick Mulligan, when he wants her to tail a suspicious cop, but she owes him.

And she also couldn’t refuse to help US Marshal Griswald when he requests her assistance to solve one last case before he retires.

Speaking of his retirement, Aunt Susan is planning the party of the century for him and she expects Maggie to bring a date.

But making it to the party on time may prove difficult since repaying her debts has resulted in Maggie doing a dangerous dance with a killer.

Tried something new!

And I had a blast!

I love taking pictures. I’m not particularly good at it (yet) but I get a lot of enjoyment out of the hobby.

Yesterday I took a photo tour at a farm. I got there early (and boy was it chilly, lol) before it opened for “normal” tours. The photo tour was led by a photographer who pointed out all the opportunities for great shots. Since I was the only person in attendance, I ended up getting a personalized photography lesson. It was sooo much fun and I learned a lot.

Guarding the livestock
A perfect Fall view of the mountains
I suspect this one knows the secrets of the universe.

Follow me on Instagram to see more of my shots (and a ridiculous amount of pictures of my dog, Smudge).

And don’t forget that I’ve also got a new book THE HITWOMAN PAYS A DEBT coming out on 10/28!

Big changes for the Cursed Chicks

Good news if you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber!

What do you get when you combine a witch who doesn’t know her own power, a possessed cat and a dragon, all traveling in an RV caravan trying to break a curse?

Chaos and Adventure! Love and Laughter!

Follow Ravena and her friends as they try to right the world of wrongs, one magical moment at a time.

LEARN MORE!

Sadly, the Cursed Chicks Club books have not found much of an audience.

Since I LOVE Ravena and the gang and I want their story to continue, I’ve decided to enroll the books in Kindle Unlimited.  That means that starting next month, they will be available there exclusively. If you haven’t gotten your copies yet, and aren’t a KU subscriber, make sure to get them before October 31st.

The Hitwoman Pays a Debt

October 14, 2021 By JB Lynn Leave a Comment

I’m excited about the upcoming release for The Hitwoman Pays a Debt on October 28th.

In book 28 of the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series, Ms. Whitehat gets Maggie a “legit” job (you can imagine how THAT goes, lol) and Griswald’s got one last case to solve before he retires.

Make sure to preorder your copy!

I’m also excited because my story editor has the NEXT book in the series (more about that soon) AND I’m already plotting out Book 30!

When I’m not busy writing, I’ve been enjoying quality time with the great outdoors.

What I’ve been up to

September 16, 2021 By JB Lynn Leave a Comment

“What’s next?” This is the question that plagues me daily, lol.

  1. Gearing up for the release of the next Hitwoman book. (It’ll be out next month. More on that soon.)

2. Writing the Hitwoman book that comes after that.

3. Plotting the Hitwoman book that comes after that. (Yeah, I’ve had Maggie and the gang taking over my brain.)

4. Negotiating a deal I can’t tell you about yet. (Don’t you just hate vague posts? lol)

5. Working on a traditional mystery/thriller. No talking animals, psychics or magic powers. Oh my!

All work and no play makes Jen a depleted writer, so in my downtime I’ve been having a blast exploring the hiking trails of North Carolina.

Sometimes I amaze myself

When was the last time you amazed YOURSELF?

Last week, I needed to start a new journal so I grabbed a notebook. (I use single subject spiral notebooks…because I’m the epitome of fancy.) But once I opened it I realized it wasn’t new. It was the journal I’d started….four months TO THE DAY before. (And no, I don’t start on the first of the month, because I’m haphazard like that, lol.)

You must excuse the terrible handwriting that’s only meant for me to see, but here’s what I wrote:

(The teachers who tortured me as a child about my handwriting would be bitterly disappointed in the mess I churn out and yet I’m still considered to be a functioning adult…most days.)

FOUR MONTHS.

If you’d asked me at the beginning of last month, when I’d already been in my NC place for a week and a half, I would have told you that selling my place was taking forever and felt like a nearly impossible task (it took three contracts and three closing dates to actually complete a closing). It took four months from “it’s time to do this” to “done”.

Four months to arrange the sale that then fell apart on closing day, find a place to live in a state where I don’t really know anyone and a town where I didn’t know a soul, and to move, sight unseen (under threat of hurricane) HOPING my stuff would make it.

Four months.

When I realized that, I was amazed by myself. (Not that it’s some huge, amazing feat, lol….perhaps I’m just easily impressed.)

Oh, and I managed to write and publish a few of books during that time…and to think I often consider myself to be a slacker, lol.

The Hitwoman and the Teddy Bear

4 Wonky Jinxes
The Hitwoman and the Body

What can you do to amaze YOURSELF???

Coffee, People, Books

May 12, 2021 By JB Lynn Leave a Comment

I write a lot of books.

I also drink a lot of coffee, as evidenced by the fact I’ve received this shirt, not once, but twice since March.

(For the record, I like more than three people…but I won’t give an actual number.)

Right now I’m drinking my coffee and playing the part of a hermit because I’m completing the edits for Something Old, Something New which is coming out next month AND I’m finishing writing Cursed Chicks 4 which should be a July release. (I haven’t finished the book’s blurb yet, so it’s not up for preorder yet.)

New release and progress!

Can you believe that 2021 is already a third over?!?!

I don’t know about you, but my mental To Do list tends to carry a lot more weight than my Ta-Dah! list. It’s easy to forget about what I’ve accomplished when I’m busy worrying about all that is left to be done.

Yesterday, while I was doing my monthly wrap-up/planning session I realized I’ve done more than I’d really realized this year.

Friday I published The Hitwoman and the Teddy Bear, my second release of the year,

following The Hitwoman Owes a Favor

I’ve also written my June release, Something Old, Something New (the next in the Psychic Consignment Mysteries).

And I’ve been working on Cursed Chicks 4! (Not to mention the six part short story Cursed Chicks Club I provided for my newsletter subscribers.)

I’ve got big plans for the rest of the year too. I’m a busy bee!

The Hitwoman and the Teddy Bear

April 10, 2021 By JB Lynn Leave a Comment

I’m gearing up for the release of The Hitwoman and the Teddy Bear on April 30th. Can you believe this is book 26 in the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series?!?!

Have you preordered your copy yet?

Maggie Lee has done some really questionable things, but she’s never stooped so low as to steal a child’s toy.

There’s a first time for everything.

Of course, there’s a good reason for what she’s doing, but you already guessed that.

Just like you know things won’t go smoothly for Maggie and the menagerie.

(And yes, God will have something to say about that.)

Plus, I’m getting closer to finishing Something Old, Something New, book four in the Psychic Consignment Mystery series.

And I MAY have started Cursed Chicks Club 4.

My work life is almost as crazy as Maggie’s, lol.
